Challenge
AkzoNobel, a leading company in the chemical industry, has always been focussed on integrating with innovative solutions to optimize its operations. As a company, committed to take its customers' privacy seriously, the company started a project to implement a Cookie Management Platform across its various websites. This initiative was aimed at ensuring all its websites were equipped with a cookie consent platform, and that only cookies were being set with the right user consent.
However, given AkzoNobel's extensive portfolio, containing numerous brands and countries, the company faced significant challenges in gaining a complete overview of all its owned websites. This overview was crucial to identify which sites required the implementation of a consent management platform. Furthermore, AkzoNobel faced challenges in verifying if these solutions where correctly implemented. Ensuring that no cookies were set without the proper consent of visitors proved to be a complex task, needing a detailed and systematic approach to compliance and privacy protection.
Solution
In collaboration with a Nixon Platform Specialist there was made the decision to integrate AkzoNobel it’s most reliable source for websites into the Nixon Platform. This reliable source was an export of their DNS-records. As a next step, in collaboration with AkzoNobel, the right business unit, and country per application where identified. This approach gave AkzoNobel a comprehensive overview of the ownership and geographical overview over their entire portfolio.
Once this information was established, Nixon's scanners took the task of scanning all the domains, leading to finding live websites outside their immediate scope. Additionally, these scanners provided immediate insights into which websites had successfully implemented the Consent Management Platform and which had it incorrectly configured. The inclusion of detailed information for each website further streamlined the process, identifying the specific responsibilities for each domain.
The solution needed to be compliant
AkzoNobel was looking for a solution that would help them achieve compliance. To achieve compliance, it is critical to implement a solution that meets the necessary requirements

The Next Step
Following a successful integration, AkzoNobel moved to a more advanced level of digital oversight by directly connecting their DNS provider with the Nixon Platform. This integration ensures a continuously updated overview of all their domains within the Nixon Platform. Moreover, Nixon's scanners are conducting regular checks across all domains to verify the correct implementation of the Consent Management Platform (CMP). These scanners also assess whether the CMP banners adhere to both internal and external standards.
